The Promise of a Flame
This painting is inspired by Ritesh and Asha Shah, and pays homage to Ritesh’s sister, Rena. In his book Pills to Purpose, Ritesh honors Rena as his guiding light and his motivation to persevere, placing her at the heart of his story. She is embodied through a candlelight at the center of the painting, surrounded by two hummingbirds that represent Ritesh and Asha. Hummingbirds can be seen to embody resilience, beauty, and healing. Known for their remarkable agility, control, and ability to adapt to challenges, they reflect the strength required to endure hardship and continue forward. Their presence in this work represents hope and tenacity, qualities at the heart of the book and the journey it honors.

Healing Light
This painting depicts an ethereal candle flame with a human figure as the wick, symbolizing the inner light that inspires transformation. Just as medicine provides healing for the body, this light embodies the healing of spirit and purpose. The imagery reflects a purpose of Ritesh’s charitable pharmacy- to not only provide life-saving medications, but also to inspire compassion, hope, and connection. It is through these values that we spark and sustain the inner light that connects us to one another. This painting honors the transformation from pills to purpose, illuminating how healing can extend beyond the counter and into the heart of community.
